ASTM A252 Steel Pipe Piles

ASTM A252 Steel Pipe Piles

ASTM A 252 Welded and Seamless Steel Pipe Piles

Pipe Piles are designed to transfer structural loads through the foundation to soils below. Where H-Piles are typically classified as point bearing, Pipe Piles are most efficient as friction piles. Pipe Piles have substantial surface area that interacts with the surrounding soil to provide great frictional load resistance.
Pipe Piles are also used in conjunction with sheet piles to add lateral stiffness and bending resistance where loads exceed the capacity of sheet piles alone

Mechanical Properties

Dimensions Ranges:
Seamless steel pipe:
OD 1/4 inch-36inch
W.T 1.25mm to 50mm,

ERW steel pipe/DSAW steel pipe:
OD 1/2inch-52inch
W.T 1.65mm to 25mm

Spirally welded steel pipe:
219mm to 3120mm
W.T 3mm to 25mm

Permissible Variations in Weights and Dimensions
1. Weight -- Each length of pipe pile shall be weighed separately and its weight shall not vary more than 15 % over or 5 % under its theoretical weight, calculated using its length and its weight per unit length
2. Outside Diameter -- The outside diameter of pipe piles shall not vary more than ±1 % from the specified outside diameter.
3. Wall Thickness -- The wall thickness at any point shall not be more than 12.5 % under the specified nominal wall thickness.
